Course description
This five day trek will begin in the Sexten valley and ascend above tree line where we will spend our time hiking and exploring the magnificent alpine region of the Dolomites. Besides skirting the breathtaking Tre Cime and other peaks, we will also pass by trenches and fortifications left over from World War One. This year we have change the hike a little bit - we are planning on climbing mountain Elmo (2041m - with a small help of a cable car). The highest altitude will be around 2600 m. This 5 day hike will provide the opportunity for students to learn and develop physically, emotionally, and intellectually while being fully immersed in the natural environment. Students will be entering new environments, revising their self-perception and stepping out of their comfort zone. The premise of the adventure is simple. Each day the group will leave a mountain hut in the morning and walk to a new hut for the evening while breathing the fresh mountain air, soaking in the amazing vistas and immersing themselves in the beautiful alpine world. Meals will be provided by the various mountain huts that will be our home. Sleeping arrangements will be simple co-ed dormitory style rooms, which is shared among all the hikers who are out trekking and stop for the night. Weather in the mountains can be unpredictable so students will need to pack accordingly. Each student will need their own trekking pack and hiking boots. There are no specials skills required, just determination to finish what you started.
