Course Description
Five full days exploring Portugal, ranging from the Óbidos Medieval village to Lisbon. This trip encompasses a large variety of fun, outdoor activities in the warm weather. We’ll spend some time at the beach, where we will not only learn the basics of surfing at a world known surf spot, but also contribute to bettering the environment around us. We will visit the Lisbon Oceanarium, the largest indoor aquarium in Europe, and other beautiful sights that you cannot experience elsewhere. Moreso than spending our time only touring Portugal, we will engage ourselves in their culture through food, language, and history. We will also spend some time at a local animal shelter, helping animals in need.
Activities: Learn how to surf, trip to medieval village of Obidos, discovering Lisbon and Oceanarium, beach cleaning, volunteering in animal shelter, adventures activities at the resort: paintball, old mine and climbing adventures, zip line, karaoke, pizza party and much more!
CAS Opportunities for IB Students: This trip relates to the “Activity” aspect of CAS. The first half of each day is the active part, and full participation and cooperation with the farmers and your student team is expected. Talk to the trip chaperones in advance if you would like the trip to become part of your CAS portfolio.
